I'm too old for swimming already. 2 laps and I'm already feeling the breathless-ness. I use to swim like 10 laps at one go without feeling anything.
For those who thinks that the iPhone 3G is cheaper than the current iPhone, think again.
- AppleInsider mentioned that a prepaid iPhone 3G in UK could cost about £350.
- The current 2G at 600-700SGD is without a plan.
- Apple is greedy, they would never price the device at 199 without telco subsidy.
- AT&T is paying Apple 325USD susidy per iPhone.
- You pay the telco back the subsidy through your monthly subscription/plan.
- Telcos are also also greedy, their objective is also, like Apple, to earn your money.
- Think logically and stop thinking that the iPhone 3G is only 199USD without considering the susidy and monthly subscription.
The points above can easily tell you how greedy Apple and the respective telcos' are. Think about point 7 and tell me whether the iPhone 3G is indeed only 199. Obviously not, you dumbass.
The current iPhone is 600-700SGD without a plan but the iPhone 3G, although priced at 199USD, you still have to sign a two year contract min. and a data plan as well. You would be paying close to 2 thousand dollars just to get your hands on the iPhone 3G. Good deal? I don't think so.
What would be the scenario when Singtel finally launches the iPhone 3G. I predict that:
- iPhone 3G will be priced at 199USD or 299USD depending on the capacity(16 or 8GB)
- You would be required to sign a contract of 2 years minimum.
- You would also have to subscribe to a dataplan as well
- You can use the iPhone 3G on any network in Singapore (M1, StarHub or Singtel)
- You would have to activate the iPhone 3G on the spot, in the shop.
- iPhone 3G will be offered without contract but at exorbitant prices e.g. 1000SGD
StarHub and M1 will also be getting iPhone 3G at a later date, smart consumers will wait until then. Consumers in Singapore are so gullible, they believe whatever companies feed them, exactly like what she said.
Whenever there is a sale, people will rush to buy, be it useful or not, necessary or not. Some even buy to store it for future use. Does it even ever occur to them that there are better revision/products coming in the future and the sale now is apparently to clear out old stock?
